It is always a good idea for families to eat together with a child.  

Children like to imitate, especially their parents. 

Foods that parents like a child will also like. 

For example, if a mother and a father like pears, then a child will also like pears. 

However, do not season your food to the intensity that you would season for yourself because children under the age of 6 have the most numerous taste buds of all ages and adult amount of seasoning might be an unpleasantly overwhelming experience for a child.
